The Holidays In Oxford, Mississippi

Spend the holidays in Oxford, MS! In this small town, there are many holiday events to be celebrated through the month of December. As the temperatures begin to drop and the trees begin to glisten, this homey, college town becomes a little like Santa’s workshop in the North Pole. Several family-friendly events and shows are presented locally in hopes that many will attend.

Oxford Holiday Events:

Square Alliance Holiday Open House

When: November 29 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where: The Square

What: Pictures with Santa (11am – 4:30pm), Oxford Civic Chorus (4pm – 6pm), Carriage Rides (2pm – 6pm), Christmas Tree Lighting (6pm), Ornament Decorating

All activities are FREE.


Holiday Art Market

When: November 29 – November 30 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. ; 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Where: Powerhouse

What: Shop local, shop handmade at the 2019 Holiday Art Market! The market will feature over two dozens vendors.


Elf Scavenger Hunt

When: December 1 – December 30

Where: Various Downtown Square Businesses

What: Help Visit Oxford find their elves! 12 elves are scattered between different businesses in the historic downtown Square. Pick up a card at Visit Oxford to participate & return your card once you’ve found them all to be entered in a prize drawing on the 30th. You do not need to be present to win.


Oxford Christmas Parade

When: December 2 6:30 p.m

Where: Downtown Square

Courthouse Square Oxford, MS 38655

What: This Christmas Parade is a fun, free, and family event for those of all ages. The parade route will begin at the Ford Center and end at the Mid-town Shopping Center.


Holiday House Village

When: December 5 – December 19

Where: Ford Center for the Performing Arts

What: A free event open to the public of all ages. The Holiday Village supports local food banks and encourages visitors to donate non-perishable food items. Take a break from your busy day, and relax in the quiet and calm of a magical village made of gingerbread. In what is becoming an Oxford tradition, the Village is a sweet delight for the senses. Houses are built for the Village each year by are Gingerbread crafters. The Village will be open daily with additional evening and weekend hours planned. Winter Candyland Family Activity Day

When: December 7 9 a.m. – Noon (drop-in)

Where: University of Mississippi Museum

What: Previously known as Santa’s Workshop, in this special family day we will create seasonal projects and explore as the museum comes to life with a lollipop forest, gingerbread men, and more! Suitable for families of all ages, we will also have a special area for our youngest learners ages 0-2.


Chick-Fil-A Breakfast with Santa


December 7 8 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. ; 9:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

What: Spend a morning eating Chick-Fil-A and seeing Santa! Tickets are $15 for one parent & child, $7 for each additional person.


Graduate Oxford Breakfast with Santa

When: December 7 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Where: Graduate Oxford

What: Join Graduate for a visit from Mr. Claus and enjoy a festive breakfast buffet. Professional photos by Taylor Square Photography will be available for purchase. $20 for adults; $8 for kids 10 and under


Doors of Hope Holiday House Tour

When: December 7 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

What: The Holiday House Tour 2019 is the annual fundraiser for Doors of Hope Transition Ministries. Attendees have the opportunity to take a walking tour in six of Oxford’s most beautiful and unique homes.

The six homes on the tour include:

Midtown Men Holiday Hits

When: December 7 7:30 p.m.

Where: Ford Center for the Performing Arts

What: The Midtown Men, reuniting stars from the Broadway smash hit Jersey Boys, will ring in the Christmas season this year with their “Holiday Hits” show. This evening of songs and stories will feature iconic Yuletide classics such as “Winter Wonderland,” “Let It Snow” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” as well as their signature renditions of the greatest rock ’n’ roll hits of the 1960’s. The popular vocal group will treat their audiences to the songs of The Beatles, The
Temptations, The Four Seasons and more! The Midtown Men also will perform their holiday single, “All Alone on Christmas,” which they recorded with Stevie Van Zandt and members of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. Come celebrate “the most wonderful time of the year” with these
seasoned Broadway veterans.


Holiday Ornament Auction

When: December 13 7 p.m. –  9 p.m.

Where: Powerhouse

What: The Holiday Ornament Auction is the Art Council’s largest fundraiser and helps provide more and more art to our community each year. Local artists donate ornaments for attendees to bid on.
